Lamentation in Arena Chapel,

The Lamentation in Arena Chapel, by Giotto Di Bondone is  a painting which I would like to present to you. This painting, just like the sculpture of David is Biblical. the Lamentation shows the Mourning of Christ. The foreground of the work we see five figures surrounded by the dead body of Christ. The figures are rendered as bulky, weighty, presences, fleshed-out as masses of pure color Giotto observed naturalism and directness, juxtaposed harmoniously with emotional appeal. The expression on the angle shows the idea of increasing observation of emotion. This painting also shows foreshortening where the figures look like they were coming straight toward you, also the light gives volume. As a viewer we will feel like we are participating in the action. This painting shown extreme sadness. Also it has very soft colors. I personally love this painting for the emotions on the faces of the angles, which was new at this time.
